ALi PCI USB 2.0 Trouble

I bought this Ali chip PCI USB 2.0 card and it came in the mail and when I installed it. It didn't work. Imediately I started searching the internet to look for a solution. By the way this is the second PCI USB 2.0 card I ave tried on this computer. The first was bought from this small company on ebay. This company actually made the card and it didn't work so I was affraid it was just cheaply made. Anyway I bought the recent card from Compusa. I was having so much trouble with the newest card. I then went to my IRQ and noticed that they were being shared. I also found out that you can not change these using Windows Xp OS. Another one of Microsoft's Genious Ideas. Anyway, I went to the movies tonight and it was storming outside. I had my computer working for like a minute. Well it was storming and I didn't want my computer to fry so I unplugged it. It was unplugged for like 7 hrs. I came home turned on my pc and the card is working. I don't know what changed, but it is a weird glitch. I have read that these Ali chips are horrible, everything I have read suggests buying a NEC chipset.

iPod Stuff!

This past weekend I was trying to install Ubuntu server on another partition on my hard drive. Well somehow it didn't work out as planned. So yeah, I lost everything. Well everything except for the stuff on my iPod. I had 98% of my digital photos and music saved on my iPod. What a handy little device. So yeah, I was able to recover all my photos. But what about the music that is saved on my iPod. Well I downloaded a little piewce of software from http://www.ephpod.com/. This is awesome software that allows you to download all your music from your iPod to anywhere on your computer. This saved me all the trouble from loading all the cds back onto my computer, not to mention downloading all the songs that I had downloaded before. Believe me it was even worth the thought. So save yourself a lot of time and use Ephpod.
Ok thanks for reading.

Windows Media Player 11 Beta

This is one of the best times to be an IT person. I just happened to go to microsofts website. They had a huge advertisment for the beta version of windows media player 11. I was kinda nervous to download the beta on my laptop just because I didn't want it to mess anything up. Well, its been more than a couple days and nothing has happened.
Actually, the new media player loads up a whole lot faster than version 10. I haven't found any problems with it except I wish I didn't download that URGE program with it. I didn't really know what it is and I haven't found a way to get rid of it. It doesn't do anything so it doesn't matter. The look of the new player is so sleek and so stylish, you can definitely tell microsoft is going after apple with this design. I gotta say I like it. I like it alot. So if you haven't tried it out yet. Please go download it. It hasn't disspointed me yet.

Everybody Likes a Present

RSS AND ATOM subscriptions are free. So please subscribe to this blog. Right now my blog entries have been real short and almost pointless. The reason for this is because I am in the process of redesigning my website, and also doing work for other people. Also, I had 6 classes taking up a lot of my time, but I only have one final left. After I get all this stuff taken care of, I will start to publish more professional blogs. Some of the topics I will be able to cover will be:
Websites
-Design
-coding
-Newest Coding Techniques
-W3C.org and verfication and other best practices
Networking
-step by step guides (with pictures)
-New technology
Much much more

So subscribe to my Blog, hey its free and what can you lose.

Projects

I am currently working on a website that might be my bands website. I am not sure that I going to see it though. Here is the link. http://www.geocities.com/gastwirthp@verizon.net/projects/new.html
You have to disable your pop up blocker, which is really annoying. Remember that this is a test site. I am currently trying to change that. Well that is about it for now. I am currently waiting for the post office to deliver my memory upgrade. This laptop has 256 mb but I need at least 512 mb. My desktop has 512 mb and I think that is good. This laptop just get hung up, and it has a faster processor than my desktop, so I think it is definitely the memory.

I've been Cheating On IE

The title I came up with for this blog makes me laugh. It is true though. I guess you could say I'm only a recent user of firefox. I don't know why, but it took me a long time to here about this one. Microsoft had me so engrossed by IE that I wasn't even looking for other web browsers. I didn't even know of all the problems that IE has until recently. Looking back, it is a real shocker. I consider myself a techy geek. I usually know of the latest and greatest technical gadgets. For some reason, I never knew of firefox. I absolutely love FireFox. I have recently acquired a labtop and the first thing I did was load firefox and load all my favorite extensions and themes. Man I love how you can configure it. But thats only half of it. Firefox views web pages beautifully and it is a whole lot more reliable than IE, I don't care what version of it. Everyone has to try Firefox you will fall in love with it. I could keep going and going about how I love FireFox, but I think you should try it out for yourself. Also if you use a third party mail app, try thunderbird. It is awesome.

Get Firefox!

Get Thunderbird!

ps-I Think I should change the title to I've officially Divorced IE
